Eve hearkened to the Lie and was deceived; Mary hearkened to the Word, and she conceived. Of no man can it be said, "Theotokos" - Bearer of God. This is the unique and wonderful dignity of Woman and of all women. She will be saved through the birth of the Child. There is no greater Advent image than that of the pregnant Virgin.
I don't care if I get banned for saying this: the deaconess program is back-door women's ordination, and an abomination in the LCMS that needs to be abolished. If pastors were doing their job, they would be telling their congregations not to ship their daughters off to college. We all know what happens to them there.
We do not ban people, regardless of what they have to say.
Not all deaconesses are wannabe pastors. Camille is the furthest thing from that. Many young women join the program in the hopes of finding a godly husband, or to serve their husband further in his ministry.
Many young women go to college to find a suitable partner or to better homeschool their children.
Women can have a valuable role as deaconesses, being of comfort to other women.
If you read your Bible you’ll find an active role for women in both Proverbs 31 (she actually makes and sells things!) and Acts.
Feminism has sadly destroyed the relationship between the sexes. While biblical masculinity has been misinterpreted so that it’s no longer servant leadership but a sexist lording over of their wives. I saw a fine example just a couple months ago where the young man was reading his theology book while his pregnant wife was struggling to feed her baby and the toddler. He would have learned far more of what it is to fulfill his vocation if he’d put down the book to help her.
You should go read the description of the Proverbs 31 woman, and realize that Christian women are not actually moslems sitting at home with our faces covered. While you’re at it, see how Jesus treated His female followers.
Then go read Ephesians 5 and learn how husbands are supposed to treat their wives, compare that with the inaction of the young man I spoke of above, who is sadly a good example of how young men interpret “biblical masculinity”.
I submit to MY OWN HUSBAND as scripture instructs me, and we have a glorious marriage. I don’t submit to you and I’m not called to in scripture.
You call yourself a trad lutheran. How is your marriage? Do you lay down your life for your wife? Do you love her as your own body, do you nourish her and cherish her? Go do those things for 30 years, then come tell me what sort of wife I need to be. Because I’ve striven to submit and honor my own husband all these years, and I teach young women to do the same.
I would encourage readers of this article to enjoy Leah Libresco Sargeant’s recent book The Dignity of Dependence. It includes both a better example of feminism vs the “straw woman” presented here, as well as a wholesome and helpful discussion of why the dependence each of us faces at some point in our lives, most acutely by women certainly but at times by men, is reason to consider whether a world where a healthy adult male is the default is really the best for anyone, men included.
It is good for a woman to be a woman.

"Feminism has sadly destroyed the relationship between the sexes" *proceeds to defend women attending college and deaconesses*
Wanita, you should log off and stop trying to be the teacher.

There is nothing trad or lutheran about being boorish.

I'd recommend Helen Andrews over LLS.
