I would encourage an addendum or additional theses on "cooperation en externis" or cooperation in externals. The phrase "communio en saris" refers as the authors of the theses represent, what is called among some Lutherans "altar and pulpit fellowship," which means both the preaching of the Gospel and the administration of the Sacraments are in doctrinal harmony.

It certainly is debatable whether all other services are "extensions" of the Divine Service. In fact, worship services absent the Eucharist are not called "Divine" Services for a reason, which is that the Lord's Supper is NOT offered, and which is among Lutherans, alongside the proclamation of the Gospel, the reason for the gathering, to receive the Gospel in the Body and Blood of Christ for forgiveness and strength. I'd say don't use that rationale.

But my purpose in writing is to clarify and actually extend the hospitality embodied in civil righteousness through a description of cooperation in externals as Christians not only might but ought and should participate both individually and corporately as local Assemblies of Believers across both denominational, interfaith and civil association lines.

Two good overtures from the Northwest District convention workbook (link below):

Overture 1-08 "To Remove RSO Status From Lutheran Community Services Northwest"

Overture 2-10 "To Urge the Church of Christ to Stay and Do Her Duty"--regarding the district and Synod's handling of Covid.

Admittedly my congregation sent both of them in, but since there is a high probability neither will get to the floor, I don't mind bragging; I'm proud of our congregation for voting to send them in.
