The case advances from criminal complaint to formal indictment. The government possesses Mohr’s own statements, physical evidence seized at arrest, and intends to introduce evidence of other crimes at
What amazes me most about Mohr's situation is the message discipline shown by the LCMS. Anytime someone asks about Mohr or sexual assault/abuse in the church, at our local level the response is, "He was a good man who made a terrible mistake (or was led astray). We need to show patience and wait until the official findings are released."
The older generation and leadership are accepting this explanation. For the younger generation, particularly young women, this is starting to chafe.
I find it puzzling that Synod will move heaven and earth to excommunicate "racists" but trip over themselves to scream "Lord have mercy!" when a man is caught producing child porn.
If Mohr was a good man he would have removed himself from his position before harming any children. Good men who know they might be tempted to commit adultery don't go to the bar or put themselves in situations where they will be alone with another woman. A good person who was tempted to harm children would not create situations for themselves where they can be alone with children. Completely unregenerate predators do that. From the mountain of evidence it appears Mohr made a "terrible mistake" many many times.
Mohr can request a hearing and plead guilty to all charges against him and throw himself on the mercy of the court. That is what a truly repentant man would do. Thats what Matt Harrison should be privately and publicly demanding that he do. If he fails to do so he needs to be excommunicated.

I'm wondering if Synod is paying his legal bills.
