Creating a College Medallion for Luther Classical College
Investiture of Rev. Dr. Maj. (ret) Ristau as the first president of LCC.
Luther Classical College (LCC) recently completed the inauguration of President Harold Ristau as the college’s first President. Ad Crucem was pleased to contribute to designing and sourcing a manufacturer for LCC’s college medallion. Our next task is to develop a ceremonial mace for the college.
President Ristau’s inauguration ceremony occurred on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Casper, WY. It was well attended and included special representatives from Lutheran Church Canada, Bethany Lutheran College, Wyoming Catholic College, and Concordia Theological Seminary. The LC-MS did not send any official representatives to the inauguration.
Rev. Christian Preus bestowed the College Medallion upon Dr. Ristau, president of Luther Classical College, on behalf of the LCC Board of Regents. The medallion bears the seal of Luther Classical College and a designation of office: “Praesidens.” This Latin term readily brings to mind the English word “president.” It means “one who sits in front,” with the connotation of watching, guarding, protecting, and defending the portion of the state or church entrusted to one’s care.
Pr. Ristau’s address is excellent and starts at the 36-minute mark.
Please consider supporting LCC, which has no lifelines from the LC-MS or its institutions. This is a grassroots effort by LC-MS Lutherans from the Wyoming District concerned with returning education to its core purpose, which is most certainly not credentialism for the sake of job security and accumulating more titles and wealth.
Thank you for the beautiful medallion and for speaking up in support of LCC. May God continue to bless the college!
