Ad Crucem Revitalizes Traditional Liturgical Church Banners
The necessity of beautifying our worship spaces.
Ad Crucem has a funny little advert that we run on Issues Etc. It decries “Aunt Mabel’s Church Banners from the eighties” with bell bottoms and skew felt lettering. It’s meant as a good-natured poke at the past. Listen here…
It’s all done tongue in cheek, of course, but it does represent our wider philosophy. The church should be beautiful and dressed as finely as she deserves. She deals with serious things of God; she is the vehicle through which He comes to serve and bless us in the Divine Service through Word and Sacrament. So, the church should also seek to elevate our attention above the mundane, to the glory and beauty of Christ and His Gospel.
Our newest church banner style tries to do just that. We have brought our love and appreciation of stained glass (see some of the faux window clings we have created) to church banners. So far, our amazing graphic designer Vlad has designed a set of Easter banners and have just finished a set of Ascension banners. The good thing about these banners is that there are so many shades and colors that they more easily match the variation in parament colors and styles. The banners retain a predominant color appropriate to the church year calendar, but other colors and tones help to mute stark contrasts with existing paraments and altar frontispieces.

When you are looking for new church banners to beautify your sanctuary, please consider Ad Crucem, we would love to work with you. Ad Crucem is also the exclusive supplier of Scapegoat Studios banners, in the standard 3’ x 6’ size.
You can test the fabric and colors by ordering a sample from Ad Crucem.
Custom banners and sizes available on request.
Standard sizes:
Extra Large: 39” x 144” (3.25’ x 12’)
Large: 39” x 108” (3.25’ x 9’)
Standard: 36” x 72” (3’ x 6’)
Hanging:
Ad Crucem’s seamstress, Tori, hems all the banners right here in Littleton, CO, and creates two pole pockets at the top and bottom for hanging hardware. We are delighted to have found her, because in the past we had a problem with stitching quality control from the printer we use.
Banners do not include hardware unless requested (additional cost). We recommend using a 1” diameter dowel for the top and a heavy steel rod in the bottom pocket to help stretch the fabric for a clean, wrinkle-free hang.
Banners can be washed and steamed if necessary.
Seasonal and special occasion banner options:
These all look amazing. My hope would be to one day get a whole set like this for my congregation. Ours are very nice (plain colors but well made) but these look next level!
