Court Orders Rev. Mohr Held in Separate Confinement “to the Extent Practicable” Pending Trial
Court records show Mohr waived a detention hearing and will remain in federal custody pending trial
Recently filed records in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri confirm that Rev. Michael William Mohr has waived his right to a detention hearing and will remain in federal custody pending trial. Mohr was arrested on January 28, 2026, and charged with one count of production of child pornography.
According to a court filing dated January 29, Mohr agreed to waive a hearing on the government’s motion for detention after consulting with counsel. In doing so, he acknowledged that he would remain in custody until the case is resolved.
The court subsequently entered an Order of Detention, finding under 18 U.S.C. § 3142(g) that no combination of release conditions would reasonably assure Mohr’s appearance in court or the safety of the community. The order directs that he be held in the custody of the Attorney General pending further proceedings.
The filing is part of the public court record and reflects procedural determinations made in open court. It does not constitute a finding of guilt. Mohr remains presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Pretrial detention orders are issued when a court determines that bond or supervision would be insufficient to mitigate statutory risk factors. Such determinations are based on the record before the court at the time and remain subject to review as proceedings continue.
Further developments in the case are expected through subsequent hearings, filings, and, if returned, a grand jury indictment.

Very good reporting. I appreciate your work on this developing story.
Such a sad story.
